ANNA and Martin
Anna born May 1, 1871 in Jemnshög, Rolsmo Södergård, Linneryd parish. When Anna was born her father Johan was listed as 35-year-old crofter and the mother was 36 years old. She got the Lords Holy Cimmunion in 1886. Anna lived with her parents and siblings in Heddamåla 1890.
Anna is listed as emigrated April 22 and Karl Martin April 21, 1900. Karl Martin was born October 2, 1873 in Gummeboda, Linneryd parish. They went April 27, 1900 with the steamer "Ariosto" (the same as her brother August had gone with 10 years earlier) from Malmoe via Hull in the UK to the USA. According to Ellis Island Anna came along with Karl Martin to Ellis Island May 10, 1900 with the ship Oceanic. Anna and Karl Martin were married in the U.S., probably in August 1900. Martin's mother, who was a teacher, was quoted as saying that "you must be Christianized before you get to go". The couple lived first in Chicago in the state of Illinois and moved 1907 in May, with the company Karl Martin was working on, to the suburb Chicago Heights.
Anna died August 25, 1959, and Karl Martin died March 4, 1953. They are buried in the Spindler-Koelling Mem. Cap o Oaklawn Cemetery, Homewood, Illinois.
