LYDIA and Frank

When Lydia was born November 12, 1865 in Jemnshög, Rolsmo Södergård, Linneryd parish the father Johan was listed as a crofter and then the mother Helena was 31 years old.

Lydia got the certificate to in June 1880, in the Ljuder church, be prepared for her first time for the Lord's Holy communion. Lydia got confirmed May 14, 1881 in Ljuder. Lydia lived with her parents and siblings 1890 in Heddamåla. Lydia died May 16, 1945 in Matlock, Washington WA, United States, and her husband Frank (see below) died September 1, 1931 at the same place.

She emigrated 35 years old from Malmoe August 2, 1901 for New York (with the note: "To Chicago Ill." According the Emigrant-CD). She is mentioned on Ellis Island, where she arrived August 15, 1901, 35 years old and she came with Oceanic ship from Liverpool in England.

Lydia lived and worked first in families, not far from her sister Anna in the Chicago area, before she moved to Washington state and got married in 1903 in Matlock, Washington, USA with Frans August (called Frank) Petersson-Helin, born January 10, 1861 in Evelund, Linneryd parish, who had moved to the U.S. from the same village, Heddamåla in Linneryd parish in Småland.

In a note from David Johnson January 17, 2003 it written: "Frank Helin left Sweden for the United States in 1888, when August Johansson and he himself was 27 years. He got the permission from the parish to travel January 25, 1888, and probably he left a few weeks later. Frank was born as Frans August Petersson according to church records. When he got his permission to travel to the United States, he had started using the surname Petersson-Helin. We conclude that he had "He-" from Heddamåla and "lin" from Linneryd, the parish where the village Heddamåla was located. We do not know why he took this name, but many Swedes simplified or changed their surname when they came to the United States. "

Lydia and Frank got the children:

* Herbert, born March 2, 1904 in Matlock WA, USA, died September 5, 2000 Shelton, WA, USA

* Linnea, born 1905 in Matlock WA, USA, died 1988 in Shelton, WA, USA

Herbert never got married but Linnea did. They had no children.
